Risk Assessments for Work Near Traffic

WorkSafeBC OHSR Section 18.3.1-compliant risk assessments. Site-specific, not templated.

WorkSafeBC Occupational Health and Safety Regulation (OHSR) Section 18.3.1 requires a written risk assessment for workers exposed to the hazards of working in or near traffic. Many municipalities and project owners require this document as part of the permit package, alongside the traffic control plan.

A risk assessment that uses a generic template and doesn’t reflect your actual site, scope, or hazards isn’t compliance. It’s paperwork. BPB builds risk assessments that document the specific hazards present in your work zone, the controls in place to address them, and the residual risk after controls are applied.

Risk assessments can be prepared as a standalone document or bundled with a traffic control plan. If your project requires both, bundling is the most efficient approach.

When Is a Risk Assessment Required?

If you’re unsure whether your project requires a risk assessment, include the question when you request a quote and we’ll confirm based on your scope and municipality.
