Traffic Control Plans in Surrey, BC

Surrey’s permit process is one of the more complex in the Lower Mainland. Two permit types, strict arterial restrictions, and a 10-business-day minimum review window.

Surrey’s road use permit process requires two separate instruments: a Customer Request for Road Permit (CRRP) and a Traffic Obstruction Permit, both issued by the City of Surrey through Permits & Licences. The review window is a minimum of 10 business days. Build that into your schedule before TCP preparation starts, not after.

Insurance requirements are strict: $5,000,000 CGL naming the City of Surrey as an additional insured. Arterial closures are restricted during peak hours. Confirm per corridor before scheduling a start date. Category 3 plans require an engineer seal; Category 2 plans with lane closures on arterials often do as well.

BPB has prepared traffic control plans for Surrey projects including BC Hydro underground duct and structure work on 64 Avenue. We know which corridors have additional reviewer requirements and what the Engineering Department looks for in a submission.
